Introduction Apple Mountain Lake South is a 219-acre private residential community located 7 miles east of Front Royal. The Property Owners Association (POA) was formed in 1972 and consists of 72 lots, with 60 homes constructed to date. The community is served by the Linden Volunteer Fire Department; located ¼ mile from the Association Entrance.
The POA manages, controls and protects its community resources through a board and standing committees comprised of volunteer POA members. The top priority for the POA is the protection of its members, their homes and of course home values. The POA has focused its protection and risk management initiatives on fire risk, protection and safety. The Board of Directors and the Firewise Committees have led this effort.
The Association has been actively working on fuel reduction since 2004. To receive Firewise Communities/USA recognition, Apple Mountain Lake South POA and its members completed vegetation and fuel mitigation activities, working with the forestry agency to remove flammable vegetation from around homes and other structures and distributed Firewise information to raise public awareness.
